The Australian Industry Group is an independent, representative body created by the merger of MTIA (Metal Trades Industry Association of Australia) and The Australian Chamber of Manufactures. It has been created to help Australian industry be more competitive, both domestically and internationally, so that it takes its rightful place in the emerging global economy. Representing some 11,000 companies, large and small, in every state and territory, the Australian Industry Group is the largest industry body in Australia by far. These member companies provide more than $100 billion in output; employ more than 1 million people, and produce exports worth some $25 billion. The Australian Industry Group is the new "powerhouse of Australia's growth" - representing companies large, medium and small from industries which will provide a future, directly or indirectly, for most working Australians. Building on the strengths and experiences of the two organisations, the Australian Industry Group takes the best from both to provide wider, better services to members and a stronger advocacy voice to government and the wider world. The Australian Industry Group represents its members and provides services in metropolitan and regional centres across Australia. Combined with its strong connections internationally, the organisation is there on the ground to serve members' needs in an increasingly global community.
